February's tea was held at the home of Gill Perkins
Sixteen members attended.
A lively discussion took place regarding fund raising for 2011, and which local charities we would support.

It is anticipated that four DBE in TN members will attend the national convention in Philadelphia in May.
Watch this space for news of that event.

Afternoon tea was prepared by Gill, Sandra and Janet and enjoyed by everyone.
On Sunday March 23rd, the Centre Court Chapter Centre Court held its regular monthly meeting and tea, but this time it turned out to be a very special event!

Our Chapter Regent, Judy, had found out that the Knoxville News Sentinel was looking for ideas for an article about the upcoming
Royal Wedding of William and Kate.  They had been told about the DBE in Knoxville and thought we might be able to help them.  We invited them to attend the tea, and decided we would make it a very special occasion for everyone and that is exactly what it turned out to be!

We decided we would all dress up posh for the occasion and the Ladies of Centre Court looked very smart in their best wedding finery, including hats!

We started the afternoon with a glass of sherry or wine and later served a traditional British tea, which included a variety of sandwiches, scones with butter, jam and cream, Welsh griddle cakes, sausage rolls, shortbread and a Victoria Sandwich Cake filled with butter cream and jam.  This, of course, was accompanied by endless cups of tea.  Everything was homemade by our Chapter members and was delicious!

In my role as Tennessee State President, I was honored to be able to propose a champagne toast, first to the President of the United States, secondly to our beloved Queen Elizabeth, and lastly to Prince William and Kate.

The newspaper reporter interviewed everyone individually and the photographer took many pictures of the wonderful afternoon activities. The article will be in a Sunday edition of the newspaper and should run before the wedding on April 29th.
